Women constitute half of every society, playing a crucial role in social and economic development. However, under the current political conditions in Afghanistan, women have been deprived of their right to work in offices or outside their homes. In response to these restrictions, Slow Food Communities have emerged across various regions to empower women and strengthen household economies by creating sustainable livelihoods centered around food production and processing.
The Afghanistan Slow Food Communities aim to promote good, clean, and fair food for all while advancing a sustainable, agroecological approach to agriculture. This initiative not only enhances food security but also empowers rural women by integrating them into the food system.
